Arguably the one poker site that gives you the most number of pro players to compete against is Full Tilt Poker. And while some might balk at pitting their skills against those of the best in the business, other people know that to improve their game, there’s no better way than to sit beside (or across from) the best. And many of those best can be found at Full Tilt Poker. Many more, in fact, than you may think.

We all know about Team Full Tilt, featuring players like Phil Ivey and Gus Hansen. But did you know that no less than 4 other professional teams that play poker online at FullTilt? There are the CardRunners, The Hendon Mob, Team Limpers and Friends of Full Tilt.

For those in the know, the sheer breadth of skill to learn from at the site is reason enough to redeem the Full Tilt referral code and get started playing poker online there yourself.

Full Tilt Poker’s 16th Full Tilt Online Poker Series of MiniFTOPS are coming up in just a week, with the FTOPS XVI running April 23 – May 2 and the MiniFTOPS XVI running May 7 – May 16. Collectively the two series’ offer up a $25 million guaranteed prize pool.

Each series is made up of the same 30 poker tournament events, ranging in format, buy-in, and playing style. The schedule includes Pot Limit, Fixed Limit and No Limit poker, Texas Holdem, Omaha, Stud, Razz, and HORSE, 6-max, turbo, speed, rebuy/add-on poker and more. The only differences between the FTOPS XVI and MiniFTOPS XVI are in the buy-ins and prize pools, but the buy-ins for the MiniFTOPS XVI are a lot less than those for the FTOPS XVI while the prize pools are only a little bit less.

Satellite tournaments are going on now over at Full Tilt Poker with top prizes of free entries into the various FTOPS XVI and MiniFTOPS XVI events.

Another Full Tilt Online Poker Series is at an end, with FTOPS XIV finishing up yesterday, Sunday, November 15, crowning a new FTOPS Main Event Champion in zhivago2, winner of the largest share of the $2.5 million prize pool. The other top winner at this running of the now coveted semi-annual event is obiedman who won the $2500 2-day event, that finished up on Saturday, November 14, just one day before, and which boasted a guaranteed prize pool of $2 million.

The series kicked off, as it’s been doing lately, with one of the $1 million guaranteed events, this being the $216 6-max event which was held on Day 1 of FTOPS XIV, Wednesday November 4, and which was won by a player going by the username of s00tedj0kers89 (suited jokers – get it?).

Next up is the Mini-FTOPS XIV, coming up December 6 – 20 and boasting a total guaranteed prize pool of $4 million.

The world of online poker has followed the real world in offering their own versions of the world famous World Series of Poker. Online poker rooms now offer their own series of poker tournaments similar to the WSOP, however, the advantage of these online series’ is that they can be offered to more people and in some cases can be offered multiple times per year. Two of the largest online poker tournament series’ online are the PokerStars World Championships of Online Poker (WCOOP) and the Full Tilt Poker Online Poker Series (FTOPS).

One of the main differences between these two great online poker series is the fact that the PokerStars WCOOP occurs only once per year, while Full Tilt usually offers up their FTOPS series a couple times per year.

Both online poker championships offer huge guaranteed tournaments. The WCOOP in 2008 guaranteed $30 million in prize pool money. The FTOPS series has anywhere from $15 million and more in guaranteed prize money per FTOPS series. The May FTOPS series will feature $18 million in guarnanteed tournament prize money.

One of the great features of the Full Tilt Poker FTOPS is that each tournament is hosted by one of the many professional players who play at Full Tilt Poker. Players include former online pro’s Jordan Morgan and Cole South as well as some of the most famous poker pro’s in the world Erick Lindgren and Howard Lederer to name a few.

Both online poker tournament series offer players many ways to get involved in each tournament. Satellite tournaments run on both poker rooms in the weeks leading up to the tournament series and players can qualify for each tournament series via satellites as cheap as $2.

PokerStars WCOOP and Full Tilt Poker’s FTOPS tournament series offer players a great way to get involved in large tournaments when they can’t make it to the largest tournaments of them all the World Series of Poker.

CLICK HERE to play in the next Full Tilt FTOPS XXII in May, 2009. Use bonus code PAW114 to make sure you receive your full $600 bonus when signing up at Full Tilt.
